WE'RE GOING BEHIND THE ORCHESTRA
The YOA Orchestra of the Americas is on its way to Jamaica and they're bringing some change.
Artistically, the Orchestra of The Americas has been moving very strongly toward its goal of becoming a major producer of symphonic music that's changing the new world. The beautiful marriage between music and charity has brought joy and relief to communities through out Canada, North and South America and now the Caribbean. Founded in 2001 by the New England Conservatory and Vision Inc, the YOA was inspired by El Sistema - the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Venezuela. So what does this mean for Jamaica?
The National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica has been training students in classical music since 2009. With the welcoming of the YOA, many of these students will get the opportunity to indulge in the global sound of the Orchestra of the Americas and a few will be lucky enough to perform on stage with the ensemble. Off stage, through the doors and into the streets both groups will embark on an upworthy initiative to bring music education to children in underprivelleged communities in Kingston free of cost. There's nothing better than getting double your money's worth. Stay tuned to Kingston Belle on Facebook for our live highlights on July 24th from the Kingston show.
